What can you have notarised by us?
You can have copies of documents in German notarised by us, provided the original was issued by a public authority or the copy to be notarised is intended for submission to a public authority. These include naturalisation certificates, German residence permits in foreign identity documents, certificates for final examinations in healthcare professions, certificates of name changes and school reports.
IMPORTANT:
Civil status certificates cannot be notarised!
To issue civil status certificates, please contact the registry office that carried out the notarisation.
For civil status certificates that were originally issued by the Olsberg registry office, please contact: standesamt@olsberg.de
We will also notarise your signature on documents in German which are required for submission to an authority or which must be submitted to another authority in accordance with a legal standard. Please note that signatures without accompanying text (blank signatures) may not be notarised. It is also necessary that you sign the document in the presence of the notarising employee and that you can identify yourself (identity card, passport).
There are many other documents that can be notarised. You are welcome to enquire at the Olsberg Citizens' Service Centre to find out whether we can notarise your documents.
Copies of German identity cards and passports can only be notarised if their presentation is expressly requested by a German authority. You must appear in person to have copies of identity documents notarised. Please do not forget to bring the letter of request with you.
In the case of certificates that are not written in German, the copy of the official translation can be notarised. The translation must be prepared by a state-recognised interpreter. If you would like to use the certification to have your educational qualification obtained in another federal state or abroad declared equivalent, the translation must be prepared by a court-authorised translator.
Legalisations by other authorities
Public notarisations can only be carried out by a notary. This includes, for example, wills, dispositions after death and general powers of attorney.
In some cases, notarisation is carried out by the local court. This includes, for example, land register entries, decisions made by courts, association and commercial register matters.
Appearance
For the notarisation of signatures and copies of German identity documents, a personal appearance is mandatory.
Otherwise, an authorised person can also appear in person. In this case, we also require a power of attorney, a valid ID document of the authorised person and a valid ID document of the person granting the power of attorney.
