It is not uncommon in life for events and facts to have to be documented, e.g. to apply for child benefit, to get married, to clarify an inheritance matter before the probate court or to claim private and statutory insurance benefits. The registry offices issue conclusive documents, certified extracts and copies from the civil status registers kept by them.
What certificates are there?
- Birth certificates
- Marriage certificates
- Civil partnership certificates
- Death certificates
- Multilingual international birth, marriage and death certificates
You can also obtain notarised extracts from the birth register, marriage register and death register.
Where are the certificates available?
The civil status registers are kept at the place of the event (birth, marriage, establishment of a civil partnership, death).
You can therefore obtain all documents from the registry office that notarised the civil status event, e.g. the marriage certificate from the registry office that performed the marriage.
You can apply for the certificates online, in writing or in person by making an appointment.
Fees
Marriage, civil partnership, birth and death certificates and notarised register extracts: 10.00 euros
Additional copies ordered at the same time cost 5.00 euros each.
There are no fees if this is regulated by law, e.g. for the purposes of statutory pension insurance.
Attention: Orders for certificates via the websites of commercial providers may incur additional costs and are in no way connected with the Olsberg registry office!
Please note:
The civil status registers contain personal data that is subject to data protection. In accordance with § 62 of the Civil Status Act, the issue of civil status certificates and information can only be requested by persons to whom the entry relates, as well as their spouses, partners, ancestors and descendants. Other persons - including siblings, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and other relatives - only have a right if they can credibly demonstrate a legal interest.
If you do not belong to the above-mentioned group of entitled persons, you must submit a written power of attorney, an enforceable title or enforcement order for the default summons, a judgement or similar.
