Certificate of good conduct

The certificate of good conduct is issued by the Federal Office of Justice - Federal Central Register - in Bonn. You can submit the application to your local registration office. To apply, please visit the Olsberg Citizens' Service Centre in person.

The application can also be made online at the Federal Office of Justice (BfJ). To do this, you will need the new ID card with activated eID function or the electronic residence permit and a card reader / app on your smartphone.

There are three types of certificates of good conduct:

Simple certificates of good conduct

The certificate of good conduct will be sent to your home by the Federal Office of Justice.

Extended certificates of good conduct

An extended certificate of good conduct is issued in accordance with § 30 a Para. 1 BZRG and a written request must be submitted to the organisation requesting the extended certificate of good conduct from you. In this written request, the organisation must confirm that the requirements of § 30 a Para. 1 BZRG are met (work with children and young people or other professional or voluntary supervision, care, education or training of minors).
In the case of self-employed persons, the applicant's certificate is sufficient.

Official (if applicable + extended) certificates of good conduct

If you are required to submit a certificate of good conduct to a German authority, you must state this when submitting your application. The certificate of good conduct will then be sent directly to the authority (not to the applicant) by the Federal Office of Justice. In this case, the exact postal address of the requesting authority and a reference number are required. The applicant can request that the certificate of good conduct, if it contains entries, be sent to a local court to be determined by him/her for inspection.
