Lost property office

The lost property office accepts lost property and keeps it until the owner comes forward or the retention period has expired. Anyone who finds an item is legally obliged to report the find.

You can find the lost property received here.

Alternatively, you can also contact the Citizens' Office team on 02962 / 982-233.

If you find or lose items on public transport, please contact the company operating the means of transport.

If there is any indication of the possible owner of the item found, the owner will be notified in writing. Lost property from "out-of-town" losers will be sent to the lost property office of the place of residence.

When handing in lost property, you can decide whether you would like a finder's fee from the owner. The amount of the finder's fee depends on the value of the item found.

You can also indicate whether you would like to receive the lost property back after the retention period of 6 months has expired if the owner of the lost property has not been identified by then. An administrative fee is charged for storage in accordance with the administrative fee regulations of the state of NRW.
