Restaurant licence

Anyone wishing to operate a catering business requires a permit if alcoholic beverages are served and there is the possibility of consumption on the premises.

The pub licence is always valid for a specific person and specific premises. A new licence or an amendment to the licence is required if the proprietor changes or if premises are to be converted or added.

 

Please note

Applications should be submitted as early as possible, as the processing time for a catering licence application can take several months, depending on its scope.
It is possible to issue a temporary licence for a catering establishment that already exists. The prerequisite is that the establishment has not been closed for more than 1 year.

Apply for the licence as early as possible to avoid waiting times and additional costs. It is advisable to hold discussions with the trade licence office (contact person is Rebecca Arens) during the initial planning phase in order to avoid unnecessary time and costs due to any necessary changes.

Costs

The administrative fees are calculated according to the scope of processing. They range between 150 euros and 1,000 euros.

Necessary documents

  • Restaurant licence (licence application)
  • Proof of authorisation to dispose of the premises (e.g. rental agreement, landlord's certificate, purchase agreement, etc.)
  • 2 floor plans at a scale of 1:100
  • Building cross-section profile
  • 1 site plan (available from the land registry office of the Hochsauerland district, Kreishaus, Heinrich-Jansen-Weg, 59929 Brilon)
  • Certificate of good conduct document type 0 (can be applied for at the municipality of main residence)
  • Extract from the central trade register document type 9 (can be applied for at the main place of residence)
  • Proof of instruction in accordance with the Infection Protection Act (contact: Health Department of the Hochsauerlandkreis, Kreishaus, Heinrich-Jansen-Weg, 59929 Brilon(www.hochsauerlandkreis.de)
  • Proof of training according to the Catering Act of the IHK or journeyman's certificate of the recognised training occupation
