The town of Olsberg is responsible for cleaning public roads, paths and squares within built-up areas, unless cleaning has been transferred to private property owners.
In the summer months, the pavements must be cleaned once a week by the residents. The road authorities clean the carriageways as necessary.
In the winter months, the pavements must be kept clear of snow by residents to the width required for pedestrian traffic. In the event of icy and slippery snow, the dangerous areas on the pavement must also be gritted with a gritting material.
Regular snow clearing and gritting of the pavements during the winter months is to be carried out by the city's building yard or by persons employed by the city. The city area has been divided into snow clearing districts in order to carry out regular snow clearing and gritting of the roads during the winter months by the municipal building yard or by external companies employed by the city. Naturally, it is not possible to clear and grit all roads at the same time. The roads in the city area have therefore been categorised into priority levels. The timing of the winter service is based on the respective urgency levels of the roads in the clearing districts.
The street cleaning charges levied by the city only relate to the winter road clearance service.
Costs
The street cleaning fee for winter road maintenance is €1.40 per front metre.
