Information on bulky waste collection

Bulky waste is residual waste from private households that does not fit into the residual waste bins due to its bulkiness or weight.

Only bulky items from households, e.g. furniture, mattresses, spring frames, are collected,

The following, for example, are not collected

• Tree and shrub cuttings
• Cardboard packaging, waste in bags
• Construction waste of any kind, e.g. more than 2 room doors, washbasins, wooden beams and boards from a renovation project, laminate, roller shutters, windows, panelling and treated woodwork.
• Panelling and treated wooden parts
• Electrical appliances of any kind
• Commercial waste

Collection

Bulky waste is collected on Wednesdays. If Wednesday or one of the preceding weekdays is a public holiday, it is postponed by one day to Thursday.
Bulky waste collection must be registered and paid for at the latest on the Monday noon before the collection day at the Citizens' Service Centre (opening hours 8.00 am - 12.00 noon) or via online registration (by 12.00 noon).

Bulky waste must be placed at the edge of the road or on the pavement on the day of collection by 06.00 a.m. at the latest, without obstructing vehicle or pedestrian traffic.

Costs

The cost per 2.5 cubic metres of bulky waste is €40.00. Please note that only the registered and paid quantity will be collected by the waste disposal company.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the municipalities, towns and districts are responsible for the collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment. As public waste management organisations (ÖRE), they are assigned the task of accepting old appliances from private households. Small commercial users can also hand over waste appliances of the same type and quantity as those from private households to the municipalities. The organisation of the collection is left to the municipalities.

Consumers may not throw appliances that they no longer wish to use into residual or bulky waste, but are obliged from 24 March 2006 to hand them in to the local authorities for separate collection.

The electrical appliances will be collected from your home free of charge once you have registered them. Please note, however, that small electrical appliances may only be registered for collection in conjunction with at least one large electrical appliance.

If you would only like to dispose of small electrical appliances, you can hand them in at the municipal works of the town of Olsberg (Bauhof), Zum Hohlen Morgen 2, 59939 Olsberg.
