The mayor is the chairman of the Olsberg town council and head of the town administration. His duties include preparing the resolutions of the Olsberg Town Council on the one hand and implementing them on the other. In addition, he organises the city administration and decides on all matters that have been assigned to him by the Olsberg City Council and its committees.
The Mayor chairs the meetings of the Olsberg Town Council, ensures that they are conducted properly and exercises domiciliary rights. The mayor may object to resolutions of the Olsberg Town Council that jeopardise the well-being of the town. If a resolution of the Olsberg Town Council also violates applicable law, it is the duty of the mayor to object to such a resolution.
The mayor also represents the Olsberg Town Council externally. He represents the town at official appointments and in contacts with the public.
